are important to us
Everyone is talking about environmental action and sustainability. We take this issue very seriously too. Preserving ecological diversity, using resources responsibly and thinking of our future generations. These are issues that concern each and every one of us. Even lots of small deeds can have a positive impact on the environment.

- Refillable dispensers in the bathroom

- Use of LED lights reduces power consumption
- Option to voluntarily do without daily housekeeping
We make a significant contribution to sustainability by using special ecological cleaning products. The large packages are returned to the supply company. Furthermore, we implement the following measures in our kitchen:
- Purchasing and working together with regional suppliers
- Using all food
- Purchasing reusable packaging
- Using the Swiss System – the innovative cooking system
- Heat recovery system for cooling systems
- Only cleaning the dishes in a full dishwasher; saving energy and cleaning products
In the restaurant, we attach particular importance to avoiding the use of individual packaging. Furthermore, we are already implementing essential points on waste prevention.
- Using reusable containers for jam, honey and Nutella
- Guests cutting butter, cheese and bread themselves
- Cereals and yoghurt from dispensers or bowls at the buffet
- Fruit juices on tap or from dispensers
- Making egg dishes to order; to avoid making too much
- Coffee selection from the fully automatic coffee machine
- Coffee cream from the jug
- Making fresh baby cereals
In childcare, too, we make sure we teach children about environmental action and sustainability.

We still have a lot to do
Familotel stands for diversity and uniqueness. We are not a chain, not a franchise model, but a cooperation of individualists. Our host families are as different as our guests. That is why we want to do more.
Legal and ethical requirements are the absolute minimum we can do, not the maximum. All principles that fall under the quality “responsible” guide us like a compass. We live the paradigm of cooperation, because we are only strong together.
Before a Familotel receives the coveted sustainability seal, it must undergo a comprehensive audit. Our audit catalogue contains 307 criteria and was developed on the basis of recognised frameworks such as ISO 14001 or ISO 26000. So far, 42 Familotels have been awarded the seal. This corresponds to a rate of 66% (as of 05/24).
